Lambda Epsilon Chi (known as LEX) is the national honor society for legal studies students. There are approximately 95 Chapters throughout the United States with well over 1,000 inductees who have been honored for their outstanding academic achievements. Each year LEX chapters select those students who meet high academic criteria and cite them for their accomplishments by inducting them into Lambda Epsilon Chi.
These students are recognized through a formal ceremony and the awarding of a Certificate of Induction and a special pin. They are also entered into the permanent records of LEX. Membership in LEX at Illinois State is open to students enrolled in the Legal Studies program who have demonstrated superior academic performance and who have completed at least six Legal Studies courses.
Of the students who meet these requirements, only the top 20% can be inducted. Inductees are presented with a certificate, pin, and a purple honor cord to be worn at graduation. Feel free to contact Professor Thomas McClure if you'd like more information about this organization.
